L-1A - L-1B
The L-1A visa and L-1B visa are non-immigrant visas or statuses, that allow companies to transfer employees from foreign offices to their US offices. The L-1A visa is for executives and managers, while the L-1B visa is for employees with specialized knowledge. These visas are valid for up to three years initially, and can be used for up to seven years for L-1A visa holders and up to five years for L-1B visa holders.
Qualifications
L-1A
The L-1A visa is designed for executives and senior managers who are being transferred from a foreign company to a US branch of the same company. To qualify, the applicant must have worked for the foreign company for at least one year in the past three years and must be coming the US to work in an executive or senior managerial.
L-1B
The L-1B visa are for employees with specialized knowledge who are being transferred to a US branch of the same company. To qualify, the applicant must have worked for the foreign company for at least one year in the past three years and must be coming the US to work in a position that requires specialized knowledge.
